The programme embraces a tour of the vibrant, heartfelt music of Latin America, and includes: 

  • Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 by Villa Lobos

  • El Mundo de los Dos (a new-wave Tango) by Astor Piazzolla

  • La Cucaracha 
    (a Mexican Revolutionary Folksong, played in New Orleans style)

  • Wanda’s own arrangements of Victor Jara’s La Toma (The Land Seizure) and El Carbonero (The Coal Miner), an anthem from El Salvador

  • Noche Tempestuosa by Simeón Roncal from Bolivia

Wanda is of Polish-British heredity. She trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and works as a soloist, accompanist, arranger and teacher. Compositions written for her include 12 Variations on a Polish Dance Melody by David Nevens (commissioned by the Welsh Arts’ Council) and Variations on a Silent Chord by Czech composer Milan Slavicky.
